Breaking a sweat for a good cause

Are you free on June 7-8th? Come ride with us! The Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer returns on June 7-8, 2025! This year marks our second year as team Rolling Strong, and we’re excited to keep growing and reaching new heights. We invite you to join our team, whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced rider.

Meet the Team

We created this page to document and share our journey with all of you. If you would like to donate, you can find our individual rider pages below.

Emily Hillstrom

Emily is tackling her first Ride, but don’t be fooled, she’s no rookie! She’s cycled over 3,000 km across Morocco and India with her grandpa and hasn’t looked back since. Oh, did we mention she’s also a ballerina and former trapeze artist? When she’s not on the move, she’s cheering from the stands— Emily loves live sports almost as much as we love hearing about her next adventure.

Monica Ishak

Monica (aka Moni) is riding in from the West Coast for her very first Ride, and she’s bringing the party with her! Small but mighty, Moni runs on Sabra Hummus and 2000s club hits—if those were official sponsors, she'd be their poster child.

Richard Herlick

Say hey to Richard – bungee jumper, skydiver, and the kind of guy who casually bikes through Ecuador for fun. He’s bringing that same energy to every ride and keeping us on our toes. Adventure’s basically his middle name.

Rides and Updates

🚴‍♀️….🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏼🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏼

May 17th 2025

The team paused our regular training to come together in community for our annual fundraiser event. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Chelito Lindo Mexican Bakery, we connected with supporters over delicious sweet treats. A big thank you to Bateman's Bike Company for hosting us for the second year in a row!

We wrapped up the event with an exciting raffle featuring over 11 prizes. With 130 entries, we raised an incredible $15,600—congrats to all our lucky winners! Next week, it’s back to the hills, but today we celebrate the community spirit that made this event such a success.

May 10th 2025

Jacob took on the role of route planner and did not disappoint - our first long ride of the season featuring many many hills to get those quads and glutes going! As per usual, a little espresso and sweet treat at Annina’s to get us through this tough ride. We even got a little extra break while watching the train go by.

Distance: 65km | Elevation: 732m | Avg Speed: 23km/h

April 27th 2025

First team ride in the books! Still a bit chilly and windy but once the sun’s out, so are we! Off to a strong 40km round trip to Annina’s bake shop…making it back just in time for everyone’s brunch plans. Not pictured below: Zach who made it to the starting line but realized he did not charge his gear shifters and had to bow out BUT had an epic ride through Iceland on the Peloton. The team is looking good with some new faces!

Distance: 43km | Total Time: 1h 56m | Avg Speed: 22.2km/h

May 28th: Horse Power

We’re calling this new route “horse-power”, after it was pointed out that our path resembled a majestic horse galloping through the countryside (or more accurately a pony, we’ve been told!). We were joined by two special guests, Albert and Josh and completed 70km, our longest training ride so far.

Distance: 70km | Elevation: 743m | Avg Speed: 23.3km/h

May 21st: Quad Burner

On this morning we tackled some quad-burning hills, covering a total of 55km and an elevation gain of 563m. thankfully, we found the perfect coffee stop in Schomberg to recharge and enjoy some well-deserved treats before heading back for a nice, long, afternoon nap.

Distance: 55km | Elevation: 563m | Avg Speed: 23.7km/h

May 6th: Two Down

Our second training ride was filled with energy and progress. We covered a total of 45.5km at an average speed of 23.9km/h – a bit faster than our last ride. The team's dedication and investment in new glasses (see photo below) are paying off! We explored some scenic routes, including a few extra kilometers around Musselman's Lake, and were joined by our very special guest Mauricio.

Distance: 45.5km | Total Time: 1h 54m | Avg Speed: 23.9km/h

April 16 2023: Back in the Saddle

Sunny and 18 degrees in April?! Well, we lucked out and it felt amazing to finally get out on our bikes. Last Sunday, we had our first training ride of the season and took advantage of a beautiful weekend in Toronto.

We rode a total of 42.24km to Goodwood and we were joined by a special guest, Leorah, for our warm up ride. This is Leorah’s first season, and her presence definitely added to our motivation. And although he weather has cooled again, we’re not letting that dampen our spirits this week.

Distance: 42km | Total Time: 1h 58m | Avg Speed: 21.5km/h

May 21 2022: Feels Like Summer

This long weekend is a departure in our regular schedule, but the crew is keeping the activity up from wherever they are. Beca is in beautiful BC visiting friends and has logged a 18km leisurely ride along the Seawall, and a steep hike down Brandywine Falls en route to Whistler. Jacob has been putting in a solid 18km to and from work and Luis is keeping pace at the gym from Mexico. We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled Saturday morning rides next weekend and invite anyone to join in!

May 15th 2022: Sunday Funday

Luis was joined by very special friends from Team Erin, Ely and Morris, on a 59km ride through Stouffville while Beca got her steps in walking 12km around the city and Jacob was hard at work tuning up his new bike.

Distance: 59km | Time: 2h 40m | Avg Speed: 22.1km/h

May 14th 2022: Warm Up

27 degrees was a perfect way to kick-off the summer and de-frost our wheels. We came back to a delicious brunch prepared by Ingrid, Andrea, and Zoe!
